Can We Talk About That?

Mormon Missionaries – Sold-out and diligent in sharing their faith – Are we.??

another testament of Jesus Christ

Holy Bible and the book of Mormon

“So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it,” (Isaiah 55:11).

Top Christianity FREE Books

Last night, completely by happenstance, while browsing in the iTunes store i discovered that 2 of the Top 10 and 3 of the Top 20 Christianity FREE Books were those of the Mormons.

I thought of this article my pastor shared a few days ago: “A State Seeks to Be Heard in a New World Economy: Why Mormons are Dealing with Globalization. Language Programs Flower in Utah’s Schools – Utah, with a history of missionary work, hopes to create a bilingual workforce, in part to lure international businesses.”

This evening at dinner i was telling my family about the article, several of the Mormon books being in the top free downloads and how the Mormons are all about their mission when it comes to sharing their faith..

And then…

After dinner, just before dark a couple of Mormon “Missionaries” who wanted to make sure God’s word was being shared with the lost, showed up on our porch with a free “testament” and a prayer for our family. I have seen them often and here all this time i was thinking they were probably Jehovah Witness, since we do have some of those visit often also.

Anyway, this is the second time in the last five days someone of a ‘variant’ faith has showed up on our front porch wanting to make sure our family knows about Jesus/God. WoW.

I see these two (most kind and courteous) young Mormon men knocking on doors and praying with folks on their porches at least once every couple of weeks or so. They are sold-out, diligent and serious about sharing their faith — Are we.??

Perhaps this will help…

‘Rom. 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” What is the Gospel? 1 Cor. 15:1-4 says it is the sacrificial death and physical resurrection of Jesus for sins. It is the powerful message of salvation to sinners. If you know that the Word of God will accomplish what God wants it to and if you know that the gospel has power to save, then it should ease your mind to know that in witnessing you are using two very powerful weapons: God’s Word and God’s Gospel. The Word of God is the Bible. The Gospel of God is His revelation of redemption.’
‘John 12:32, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” Here Jesus speaks specifically about His crucifixion. It is He who draws to Himself all who are to be saved. When you present the gospel (1 Cor. 15:1-4), the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus for sins, Jesus draws the sinner to Himself. He does the work, not you.’
As a Christian, you are to witness with truth, honesty, and integrity. As the Lord provides the opportunity, you should respond in lovingkindness with a humble and gentle spirit (2 Tim. 2:24). And in that, you should point people to Jesus. It is He alone who saves.

‘If you know that God’s Word will accomplish what God desires, that the gospel is powerful to save, and that it is Jesus who draws all men to Himself, then you should realize that the responsibility of salvation does not rest on you, but on God. You are the teacher, the deliverer of good news. “How shall they believe in Him who they have not heard?” (Rom. 10:14). You help them hear.!’

‘These three verses should help you to gain confidence. You witness; God saves. You plant the seeds; God waters. He uses you. It is His Word that accomplishes salvation. It is His gospel that is powerful. It is His Son Jesus who draws. You witness in power when you witness with the Word of God.’  Need more – read more at: http://carm.org/three-important-verses-witnessing

Great House of God

A Home for Your Heart, Lucado

The Great House of God; A Home For Your Heart by Max Lucado

I have asked one thing from the LORD. This is what I want: Let me live in the LORD’s house all the days of my life. ~Psalm 27:4

Did you know that God has built a House for your soul – a home for your heart? Just as you have a physical house to shelter your body, God has provided a Spiritual home to shelter your heart and house your soul.

The Lord’s Prayer sets this expansive floor plan in “The Great House of God,” while author Max Lucado takes you on a captivating room by room tour through the grandest and soundest of shelters you could ever know.

‘The observatory will stretch you.  The chapel will humble you.  The study will direct you.  And the kitchen will nourish you. The roof never leaks, the walls never crack, and the foundation never trembles. In God’s house, you are home. So come into the house built just for you. Your Father is waiting.’

Also included is an excellently detailed study guide that would make this an ideal book for small groups or book clubs to go into a deeper study or discussion of presented topics chapter by chapter.

BLOWIN’ IN THE WIND

BLOWIN’ IN THE WIND — Bob Dylan — 1962 Warner Bros. Inc

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?

Yes, ‘n’ how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?

Yes, ‘n’ how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they’re forever banned?

The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?

Yes, ‘n’ how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?

Yes, ‘n’ how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?

The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it’s washed to the sea?

Yes, ‘n’ how many years can some people exist
Before they’re allowed to be free?

Yes, ‘n’ how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn’t see?

The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
The answer is [still] blowin’ in the wind…

Bob Dylan wrote this in 1962 as a young man concerned with the issues that he saw in the world at that time.  If you watch the video it gives [print] clips/quotes from interviews he has done over the years.  He believed this a song that would speak to all the [coming] ages  ……and today in the 2000’s unfortunately these things are still an issue in many ways in every [social] circle of every nation.

Therefore, I’d say he was most unfortunately correct.  However, the answer my friends is not blowing in the wind because it is an unknowable mystery of life… nor is it an unapproachable chalet high in the mountains or skies.  It is still blowing in the wind because [the majority of] the human race will not allow it to come in and make a change.

Mini Mi – Penny for your thoughts…

So, we are trying to convince Mini Mi that taking my purse, hiding in the closet, removing and saving my belongings [she especially likes my face power, mascara, and lip gloss] for future use… Tearing my dollar bills in half, returning [only] the other half to my purse… is wrong!

Her Daddy told her “this is called stealing and it is wrong.” Her reply, which was animatedly accompanied by indescribable facial expressions, hands waving and finger pointing, was:  SHH, Quiet! Its Mine!”

And me; I don’t even know what to do but laugh, but not in front of her mind you! 🙂

She just seems to be determined to have a collection of my belongings  in her closet, clothing drawers, or other undiscovered secret places… and as I write this she is proudly prancing about with black looking warrior marks [the mascara] streaked across both eye lids. I wish the web cam was working about now, so I could share a picture of this with you! However, I’m feeling pretty sure that you [at least the moms anyway] can mentally picture this and heartily laugh without one! 🙂

Yep, our Mini Mi is a most tenacious and feisty three year old, hence my hubby nick naming her “Mini Mi.” Truth is, he loves her resemblance to her tenacious, sometimes stubborn mommy! ;-) My quick witted temperament and pull er up by the boot strap attitude, if need be, was a source of wonder and attraction to him back in our prior marriage days… and I suspect [even be it to his bewilderment sometimes] that it still is! LOL

A few months ago, I shared with Mrs. Williams “Mini Mi’s” ability to frustrate the hay out of her Sunday school teachers by [often] suddenly and without notice escaping their class, which has locks and latches that she cannot reach. They have no idea how she gets the door open because if she used something to stand on it would seem that it would block the door from opening. This is not a very big room either…

Ms. Williams said, “She is going to be a prophetess.” …and then I start thinking, well praise the Lord that at least Juan and I now understand such things as this; so maybe she won’t have to struggle down some of the paths we did! Which, by the way, is one of my main concerns in her having such a kindred spirit to mommy.

But really what to do with her…? We don’t want to break her will; that often seemed to be the goal of many parents when Juan and I were growing up. I firmly believe that she’s going to strongly need that daring, spunky, feisty little tenacious attitude in this [sometimes very mean] old world as she grows up. This world is not getting any better; it is getting worse day by day… And I can testify that its evil would have literally swallowed me whole [many times] if God had not blessed me with the strengths that He did… no, indeed I did not save myself, His blessings and favor did.

Any whom, purse is rescued, other half of dollar permanently lost it seems, and I’m going back to my school work now.

Penny for your thoughts…
